1998 Toyota Tacoma - Full Paint Restoration

What’s Wrong:

This 1998 Toyota Tacoma was an out-of-pocket job. The customer wanted to revive the truck and asked for a full repaint with some modern touch-ups. Touch-ups included raptor bed lining for the truck bed and repainting the plastic trims.

The Fix:

To do a full repaint for this job, we remove all trims (headlights, grille moulding, and tailgate), sand the entire car down, remove all dents, and apply 3 coats of high-build polyester primer. After we let the primer harden/cure, we block sand the entire vehicle. Block sanding flattens out the primer and preps it for the final painting. After painting, we let it cure for another 2-3 days, then reassemble the car and give it a final sanding and de-nibbing to remove any dirt or imperfections. Finally, we send it off with a beautiful polish.

For the bed liner, we wash and decontaminate the whole surface (truck bed). Then we sand the entire bed of the truck and mask the vehicle to prevent overspray from the bed liner. Finally, we apply the liner to the truck bed.
